The hard-working men and women of the Canadian Armed Forces protect our country and defend our values. They deserve the support of the federal government as they transition from military careers to civilian life.
Since our Conservative Government was first elected in 2006, we’ve made major changes to better serve modern-day Veterans and their families, as well as to end the Liberal “decade of darkness” that saw major cuts to Canada’s military. But as time passes, the needs of our Veterans change. That’s why in 2011, we enhanced the New Veterans Charter which not only provides a minimum income of $40,000 a year for those in rehab or who can no longer be gainfully employed, but also offers more flexible award payment options to help Veterans transition into civilian life. Plus, our Government has delivered the new Veterans Transition Action Plan to cut red tape, improve services, and help our Veterans find good jobs.
It’s only right that we support our Veterans and their families who’ve done so much for our country and all Canadians.
